History and Activities of Camp Bosco

"Camp Bosco" is a summer camp for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 15 run at the Salesian College by Teaching Staff, Salesians and specially trained Junior Leaders from the secondary school.

"Camp Bosco" offers a wide range of outdoor activities, utilising the well spacious grounds of the College. Indoor activities are also affered such as arts and crafts, drama, folk group, disco dancing, concerts, as well as "Hall Games" and swimming in the college's heatedindoor 25 metre pool, with a shallow end suitable for beginners. Canoeing is also offered and takes place at Ardlahan Lake close the school. This activity is open to Groups A,B and C ONLY and participants MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM. Buoyancy aids and helmets are provided. This activity is supervised by a canoe instructor and two assistant instructors. Students MUST bring swimwear, a light rainjacket and an old pair of runners or shoes.

The aim of "Camp Bosco" is that all the participants enjoy themselves by participating fully in the day's activities and by meeting others from their own age groups. The needs of all the children are met with our extensive range of activities. Special programmes are drawn up for each of the different age groups, thus making "Camp Bosco" an enjoyable and satisfying experience for all participants. All participants are especially requested to join their own ge group i.1 if you are 11 or 12 you must join the under 12 age group and not the under 15,s.
Safety is of the utmost importantce in Camp Bosco. Camp Leaders ensure the safety of all the children under their care during the camp hours. Participants are asked to stay in their age groups and not to move up in age as activities may be unsuitable or too advanced!
